Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Hold On handles information when you use the Hold On browser extension and the Hold On website.
Summary
Hold On adds a short pause before selected entertainment sites open. The extension stores its settings and friction-related records in your browser. Hold On does not operate a server for extension data, does not sell user data, and does not use user data for advertising.
Information the extension handles
The extension handles the following information to provide its core feature:
- Site rules that you configure, including domain patterns and friction levels.
- Quota settings, quiet hours, emergency-pass counts, theme, and language.
- Daily friction records, such as the number of attempts, abandoned visits, and time counted after you choose to continue.
- The current top-level navigation URL and host, used only to decide whether a configured rule should show the Hold On pause page.
- Temporary per-tab session state, such as whether a host was recently allowed or abandoned.
How information is stored
Extension settings and records are stored with browser extension storage on the device where the extension is installed. Temporary session state is stored with browser session storage and is used only while the browser session is active.
How information is used
Hold On uses this information to:
- Match the current site against your configured rules.
- Show the pause page, countdown, prompts, quota state, and emergency pass.
- Let you edit site rules and preferences in the extension options page.
- Show small daily records back to you inside the extension UI.
Sharing and transfer
Hold On does not transmit extension settings, browsing activity, or daily records to a Hold On server. Hold On does not sell, rent, or transfer extension user data to advertising networks, data brokers, information resellers, or other third parties.
The extension may request the current site's favicon from that site so the pause page can show a recognizable icon. That request is made by your browser directly to the site you were already trying to open.
Website data
The Hold On website is a static product page hosted on Cloudflare Pages. The website does not provide accounts and does not intentionally collect personal information through forms. Cloudflare may process standard request information such as IP address, user agent, and request URL to provide hosting and security for the website.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Hold On's use and transfer of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your choices
You can edit or remove site rules in the extension options page. You can remove all extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing the extension's storage in your browser.
Changes
This policy may be updated when Hold On's behavior changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
